New Volkswagen ID.4 GTX Price

New Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is the range-topping version of the VW ID.4 compact crossover. Its sporty design elements and dual-motor all-wheel drive make it stand out among competitors. While this car will not be sold in the U.SIt will come with the same powertrain and 82-kilowatt battery as the ID.4 AWD Pro, with a starting price of $61,890.

This new performance-oriented EV is based on the MEB platform developed by the Volkswagen Group. While the rear electric motor provides propulsion, a front-mounted motor gives extra traction and acceleration. Both the ID.4 GTX Max share the same 77-kWh battery pack. The GTX Max is a bit more expensive than the New Volkswagen ID.4 GTX, but will still achieve 310 miles of range before needing to recharge.

New Volkswagen ID.4 GTX has 90 horsepower and a 0-to-60-mph time of under 4.4 seconds. However, the price isn’t cheap. The car is expected to go on sale in Germany and the UK this summer. Its price will start at EUR50,415 (about $61,150) in Germany, but the vehicle will be eligible for a subsidy of EUR7,500.

Volkswagen ID.4 GTX Features & Specs

The ID.4 GTX features an electric motor with a net energy content of 77 kWh and a charging capacity of 125 kW. Its battery packs can charge up to 80 percent of the car’s capacity in 30 minutes. The car also features an adaptive suspension and a heat pump to warm the interior. The EPA estimates the GTX’s range at 250 miles when used in rear-drive mode. With its fast charging capabilities, the ID.4 GTX can reach a speed of 180 km/h (120 mph).

New Volkswagen ID.4 GTX will have an additional front-mounted electric motor with a 201-hp permanent-magnet motor. Up front, there will be a lower-powered asynchronous motor. New Volkswagen ID.4 GTX Performance

The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is an all-electric SUV with a front motor and one in the rear. Each motor has a maximum electrical output of 220 kW and works together as an electric all-wheel drive. The vehicle is considerably heavier than a long-wheelbase Mercedes S-Class, but it handles well, even when taking tight turns. The battery sits low in the body, reducing drag losses.

While the new vehicle is not yet available in the United States, it will be sold in Europe and the free states this summer. The car will start at $61,000. Volkswagen has promised to sell the GTX in Europe and elsewhere, and it is highly likely that the new model will carry a different brand name. If it does come to the U.S., you should be aware that it won’t be available in the United States until at least 2022.

Buyers will no doubt look to the 261bhp Pro Performance 4Motion or the 295bhp GTX variant for added speed and the reassurance of all-wheel-drive, although you’ll need between £48,000 and £58,000 to place an order.

The ID.4 comes with a 52kWh or 77kWh battery, most of which features a single motor driving the rear wheels. Versions with smaller batteries are available with 146bhp or 168bhp, badged as pure and pure performance respectively. There’s a Pro version in the 77kWh setup that delivers 172bhp and slightly more power over extended range, while there’s also a 201bhp Pro Performance option to consider.
