2024 BYD Dolphin EV: Price, Engine, Release Date & Specs
The BYD Company has announced the arrival of its 2024 BYD Dolphin EV electric hatchback range in the fourth quarter of 2023. ANCAP has already released its seal safety ratings, and we’ve tailored this article accordingly. We have updated this article for the BYD fan to reflect servicing intervals and costs. Information on this can be found in the Servicing and Warranty section of this article. In addition to the base Dynamo, Australia’s most affordable electric vehicle (EV) at $100, there’s the more powerful Premium and a limited-edition Sport coming next year.
In addition to a more powerful electric motor, the Premium swaps out the standard torsion beam rear suspension for a multi-link set-up. Even the base Dynamic, however, features power-adjustable, heated front seats and a panoramic glass roof, as well as a wide array of active safety and driver assistance equipment as standard.
Also standard across the range is a heat pump and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, which lets you power small appliances using batteries. The Dolphin will compete against Australia’s cheapest electric car, the MG 4, as well as the expensive GWM Ora for a few days this week.
